In My Shoes -- Wendy Ely
As a mother I try to encourage my children to persue whatever activity sparks their interest. My son is 12 now and my daughter is 13. Both children have vivid imaginations and you should hear the stories my son tries to lay on me! Even though both kids are creative and have been bitten by the writer's bug, I do my best to not push them in this direction but encourage them when they want to go in on it alone.
Even with such a wonderful imagination, my son has decided he isn't like me and can't write stories. He has such a hard time doing a writing assignment for language arts. He sits and stares at the paper while he tells me over and over how much he can't make up a story. I know for a fact he can, he just doesn't want to. That's fine with me though. Maybe it isn't an interest of his even though he would be good at it. Just because someone is good at something it doesn't mean they like doing it, right?
My daughter is totally different. She loves to write and is working on her first novel. She has started reading Stephen King On Writing and other writing craft books she has found on my bookshelf. Does this make me happy? Heck yeah! However, I don't push her to write but am always available to listen to her when she wants to talk to me about her book. She also won't let me read it which is the part I don't like but accept anyway.
One thing is for sure, both of my kids are proud of what I've accomplished in my writing career. On that note, I'd like to share the blurb from my newest release titled Midnight Secrets. You can find it here: www.lyricalpress.com/wendy_ely and I hope you like it.
Will Miguel's whispered midnight promises ever see the light of day?
Content with her job as small town waitress and roll of single mom, Allison believes she's better off without a man. In her opinion, all they bring is chaos - and that includes the father of her child. So why has Miguel's arrival shaken her so badly?
It's not easy for Allison to keep Miguel a secret with someone set on shutting down her bakery and the local sheriff believing she harbors a vendetta against the town because of her tormented past.
Keeping her secrets and clearing her name just might be harder than Allison ever imagined.
Content warning; This book contains cold family situations during the day and hot nights

Hi Wendy,
I'm sure this is the burning question that everyone loves to ask ...
People are drawn to a genre for many reasons. What drew you to writing this particular breed of book?
Hi, Lori!
What draws me to the romance genre is that I truely believe in happy endings and that everyone has someone out there for them. I love a great love story and even though I like other genres as well, I'm drawn to this one.
